Junior Lifeguard Training

Mendocino State Parks has a Junior Lifeguard summer program at Big River Beach in Mendocino that focuses on physical activity, health, water safety, environmental health, and, of course, outdoor fun activities such as swimming, bodysurfing, boogie boarding, surfing, kayaking, and diving.

The program cost is $600 plus a rashguard and shirt ($20 and $15 each). The course is 4 weeks from July 6th to July 31st.
Transportation from Point Arena High School to Big River and back is provided by the high school vans.
In order to participate, kids must pass a tryout composed of a 100-yard swim in 3 minutes, a 10-yard underwater swim, and 3 minutes treading water/floating (tryout is April 11th at CV STAR center in Fort Bragg).

Is a great opportunity to get your kids safer in the ocean while having a great time.
