Radio Broadcasting Course 2022-2023

About the Class:
This course emphasizes improving students’ auditory, communication and literacy skills through radio broadcast media, as well as preparing students for a career in radio and audio production. Students will participate in producing live and pre-recorded programming for the new PAHS radio station. Students’ will participate in the administrative management of a radio station, which includes logging & reporting, as well as planning and archiving. Students will also create a portfolio of work including creative podcasts, music shows, cultural exploration, cross curriculum academics, student and staff interviews ,and athletic event broadcasting.

About the New PAHS Radio Lab:

The Point Arena High School Production Arts Program, aka the “Radio Lab”, is a brand new, one of a kind educational experience our small school has to offer. With our focus oriented around developing a functional powered radio station. Our goal is to provide students the equipment needed to learn and directly apply the fundamentals of audio and radio technology. We hope that students will be willing to broadcast sports and other student activities outside of regular class hours.

After School Lab hours:

      Monday – 4:00pm-6:00pm

      Tuesday & Thursday – 4:00pm-6:00pm

      Wednesday – 3:00pm-5:30pm

      Friday –  4pm-6:00pm

      Lab can be open during lunch by appointment only
