Sidney Regelbrugge is so excited to serve as Mendocino County’s Youth Poet Laureate. Poetry has been a passion for her since grade school, whether that meant working with Blake More at Arena Union Elementary School or on her own, writing haiku. Sidney believes that poetry is an expression of all emotions and feelings, it’s the feeling of love by a wood fire, it’s crying on the front porch watching your first love drive away. To Sidney, poetry is the un-judged place where everyone is welcome. It gives voices to those who don’t have one themselves. Sidney has the intention to spread the joy she received from poetry to other students in Mendocino County. Sidney intends to serve her term learning from other poets and help build the framework for Youth Poet Laureates to come.
