This week, some students will be participating in a ginkgo walk to write haiku in English class based on a snapshot of time spent in nature and observing the changing seasons.
The website for the festival and haiku contest requirements are linked here. Submissions can be in Spanish, Pomo, or English. The due date for submissions is Feb. 08. Winners receive book store gift certificates and can participate in reading their haiku at the festival on April 28! Some winning haiku may also be featured in the festival anthology.
If your class isn’t participating in the ginkgo, please consider writing haiku on your own. Ask Ms. Krogel if you have questions about haiku or need help submitting your poems to the contest.
